I bought one of those for the Franklin River trip earlier this year. Not because it was Bear Grylls, but because it was made by Gerber (not Fiskars) and because it was very light weight, and VERY sharp.

At one point in the Franklin River trip, a raft had got stuck in a stopper for about 15 minutes (the person had been tossed out), and when it finally broke free, it's rope fell out and became snagged in the middle of the flooded river. We managed to get the raft to the bank, then drag it upstream to as close as possible to the snag. After being unable to free the rope from the snag on the river bed we decided cut the 20mm static climbing rope.

I expected that I would have to saw through the rope with a few strokes from the new tiny Gerber knife, but just one single swipe did the trick. That serrated section of the blade is specifically for ropes, and I was amazed at how well it worked.

It is now my regular bushwalking knife, and my large heavy hunting knife stays at home except for actual hunting trips now.

Interesting, I didn't realise that. They're both excellent brands in any case. I've only known Fiskars for their scissors and shears, previously, not for their knives (or other related brands).
