Didn't think it was open yet. Might have to knock this off very soon.

Surely, being "lost" must have been a cover for your own curiosity. ;)

I'd love to see some pics if you have them.

How very fortunate you were ILUVSWTAS to find that track lost on pickaxe ridge. Droll!

I was there on the 4th to the 7th. I talked to a ranger heading in to do some kind of work on Tahune hut and he said the new track would be open within weeks, that means it should be open or about to be open?

Gotta get back there sometime it was just amazing. :D

Hm funny I went there 11th to 13th and I met a ranger who told me it would open in about April, as there was still 1 kilometer of work to be done and the track had to settle before use. Wonder if that was the same ranger you met. Apparently he installed an exhaust fan on the toilets at both huts.

I was with ILUV on the new track...he's deliberately being surreptitious for a reason.
Yes, we have walked the new track, but no, we are not going to give specific details as we promised the ranger we would not give out specific details.
People have asked what the track is like & ILUV has responded to these questions...doesn't mean he's going to give out specifics.

They have done a truly amazing job & we are not about to undermine that by giving out locations...they were happy to have a chat to us about it & happy to have us on it at the time, but they certainly don't want the masses on it yet.
The track is fantastic, but obviously still needs consolidating & there was still a section at each end that was incomplete, these will be the last works to link to the existing tracks.
I can tell you now it is so good you could probably push a baby stroller along most of it's length...that good!

You'll just have to wait for the formal opening...

Still some time for the 'historic' Lodden (intro to mud 1a) experience then.

There should be a locked gate on the new track for those who haven't first tasted the history of the Sodden Loddons :D
The new track makes the overland track look "difficult" :?

So there will be a regular race to and from the Cap with a time of say 2 hours?

It didn't seem to take us any less time, it's just less muddy.... Poor old Dick obviously doesn't like mud. :?

If you can find out when Dick is coming to Tas next, I reckon that's when the track will be opened...

Hope they're busy building tent platforms now.
