Convertible pants - no pockets

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Convertible pants - no pockets

Postby Jason68 » Sat 02 Feb, 2013 8:47 pm

What I would like is a convertible (32/34), light weight, quick dry, no belt loops, draw string, baggy fit pair of pants with no pockets please :( And yes I know I could just unpick the pockets, lol, that's what I do at the moment...

Any suggestions?

I hate pockets!

I'd like exactly the same pants, but with two large patch pockets AND NOTHING ELSE. Good luck in your search, 'cause I've to find what I want.

Did manage to find a simple pattern for sale

http://thru-hiker.com/kits/lr_pants_kit.php

I'm game, sure I can beg, borrow or steal a sewing machine from someone, might take a few goes but at least you'll have the pattern for multiple sets.

Yep, you'd need to use the appropriate material.

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up re pattern etc. I've not sewn clothes for a few years but this sparks my interest. Hubby needs some light overpants
I hope you find a pair of pants to 'suit'.

What about getting some pants / strides from a secondhand shop or cheap ones at Woollies / Coles that fit and taking them apart for a pattern?

My wife has done that with all manner of things including an old Japara coat.
Works well.

Have you looked at macpac rockover convertible pants? They do have hand pockets, but are pretty " clean" in style, but good functional cut...

Is this what you're looking for? They have a drawstring waist, foot zippers, bias cut stetch fabric and NO POCKETS
I'm not sure what you mean by 'convertible' though - in my mind that's the ones that zip off to shorts, but I think there must be another secret meaning.
