Hi Folks
I have moved house and cannot find my Walls 25 thou maps. Sigh.
The Tasmap website is not very helpful in this regard. Which maps, by title, will i need to cover from the Walls carpark, down to Junction Lake and across to the Ov Track via The Never Never Valley.
Yes, I know, I have Chapmans Book, but I do like to read and carry my own maps too.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Very sad

Rowallan, Cathedral, Ducane. Depending on what you want, you might do better to get the Walls of Jerusalem Nat Park instead of Rowallan, as it gives you many more walking options for another time, and both cover the beginning.

Thanks Tortoise. Have ordered the Walls Map in any case- yes agree. Rowallan was the name I could not remember.
When I finish at the Carpark, I am restocking in LAU then plunging back with mate to walk and trundle around the lakes on the opp side of Junction Lake, so that should be fun. It seems like The Never Never Valley has become a track and frequently traversed since I last walked thru there in 2006 or so.

There is a file here - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2726#p27993 that opens in Google earth and shows you which tasmap covers each area - easy to find the required map name and coverage

You will really only need 2 maps - the WOJ national park Map and then the DuCane topo.

The WOJ map is fine and the tracks are easy to follow in most parts. The DuCane map will take you through the tricky off-track section through the never never.

Once you hit the Overland you are fine again.

If you are doing off-track walking through the walls I would perhaps think of getting selected other topo's otherwise the WOJ map will be fine.

I have never been able to understand why the Wof J park map doesn't actually cover all the park? Particularly the bit on the western side where it abuts the Reserve?

I suspect they could but it would require a change of scales to make it all fit.

Cradle/St Clair map is 1;100,000 scale
Walls is 1:25,000 scale

At 1:100,000 I reckon you would lose a lot of the smaller lake detail across the plateau.

I looked at the Cradle Reserve map recently and wondered why they chose to include the western most extremities in favour of a shift of the whole map extents east to include the Walls.
It would fit and I doubt majority would miss not having a Cradle Reserve map covering the entire reserve.
Seemed like a map for the sake of having to be of ALL the Reserve to me.
Be far more practical but then may miss on some detail but those just wanting an overall picture of the region would have it.
The Walls map would still offer the level of detail to those in need.

The more weather resistant maps are a vast improvement over older paper ones.
