TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Not sure on the renting bit. However, members here are sometimes happy to give a guided tour, but I doubt you'd find anyone willing to loan them out.

There are hirers of tents & other bushwalking gear. However its usually traditional gear on the heavy side to make it more durable.

If you are close to Port Melbourne you could pop in to my place and have a look at some Tarptents.
I have all of the solo types and some doubles too.
(I don't sell them...)
