Two Routes to Federation-07.jpg
Air drops on Goondrop Moor re-supplied the group.

Two Routes to Federation-08.jpg
All the packaging and rubbish from the airdropped supplies were "burned, bashed, and buried!"

The feasting was documented in great detail!

No probs wander - I thought I would add them to a relevant existing thread rather than start a new one. I posted what I thought was a scoop in a new thread (Maria Island free winter transport) only to be advised that the news had already been posted the day before under a topic I had not searched in! We are always advising new forum members to "search the forum first" so it was a timely reminder

Man I just can't get enough of the old photos. Just great, thanks so much for posting them. Takes me back to childhood memories of dad putting on colourslide shows. More please.

Thanks for the photos Tas-man! I hope to get up into the Norolds over summer for a quick wander while I am researching in the area. I wonder how quickly the scrub has grown back after the fire out that way a few years ago?

We were lucky enough to get a ride across Bathurst Harbour to Rowitta Harbour with Eccles. He was on his way to pick up Denny, Mary and a HWC party. They were returning from the WAs. The route was described to us as open and fast and I wouldn't expect there to be any traces of track or blazes. I think the route may have started at Mt Alderbaren and then come down the North River valley. Someone from the HWC may be able to provide more definite detail.

No - the route went down near Lake Oberon - Square Lake area. I think there was an old track

Interesting, looking at maps you would think Alderbaran would be an ideal route, the way off Oberon seems to drop into a big valley.

My map has the route going down from Pegasusbetween Oberon and Uranus to Pegasus sth then heading in a SE direction towards Titania. Turning more south before Miranda. If you look at the contours you can see the way to go. I havent done this route just looking at my map with the route marked.

I'd heard it goes off Pegasus Sth also, perhaps from an old tramp?

I have been down off Aldebaran on a trip to the Norold Range. Yes - it is an "interesting" route.....

Always enjoy reading/looking at your reports Dave, so thanks!

I Imagine scrub would be fairly difficult to avoid, whichever route you took down there from the sounds of things :P
