Postby Aushiker » Sat 08 Jun, 2013 3:54 pm

Hi

Has anyone had experience using either/or Velomap or more particularly Openmtbmap? Just curious if they are worth 20 Euros for a years subscription

Thanks
Andrew

May not be as good, but check this one out too. They have an option for cycle map download. Given it's all shared from OpenStreetMap, the difference in data may be insignificant.

Thanks, but I am familiar with the website linked to and in fact use their cycling maps, however I am interested in experiences with the alternatives which are from what is given on the website appear to subject to quite a bit more development. I thought that the Openmtbmap version might have seen some bushwalking use.

I use to use there maps. But now since owning a Twonav Sportiva GPS I don't use my Garmin anymore. At the time the use of the maps was free. I never known they started to charge.

The only benefits I found was the walking tracks stood out more on my Garmin.

I would not pay for it. Unless they include topo graphs.

Its based from a map source that is free. At least it was when I last checked.

Ok.

I've had a look at the guy's site too and couldn't really see anything that special, one that warrants the cost (even though it is small). Further given his Euro base, I am not expecting much more than what OSM already provides. I would put the money with OSM instead. Did you find anything that's particularly attractive in your reading?
