TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Just saw on Facebook that Tim is cutting the Revelation X and Prodigy X from his lineup. Anyone that wants one of these better get in quick!

Just ordered 20F Enigma a few days ago - pity just the drab colours for now- hopefully reg width is good?!.
Looks good
Although I have noticed Tim has gone to lower quality Duck Down on his X quilts.
Will post pics when Enigma arrives.

Yes moved to duck down but quality is unchanged apparently. There is a lengthy discussion with Tim regarding this on BPL.

Ok, suddenly duck plumules are larger, with more barbs? This isn't marketing spin on a shift to a lesser product as a response to rising material costs…no, not at all…..
Commercial reality is fair enough, no need for spin.

Cam, I suggest you talk to Tim directly regarding his comparison testing. The verdict essentially was that the only penalty was weight, the one area X buyers are willing to make a small sacrifice. Do note that I referred to unchanged quality, not performance. Hence the higher weight due to a greater amount of fill required.

There is a variance to longevity, of performance drop off over time with plumules which are a lessor size, with less barbs. An IDFL fill power test does not measure benefits of goose vs duck.

Vieve how is your quilt for length? I just realised yesterday that I calculated mine based on me being 176cm tall, but I'm actually only 167cm! Ordered the 6' length to have a little extra to snug up around my head and neck - but I was only planning for an extra 7cm not 16! Hopefully this still works out alright or it will be a painful exercise to exchange it!

To state the obvious that will be long. I have the 5'6" (72") version and it is just right and I am 172cm. My Wilderness Logics quilt is 75"long and I can pull it over my head when it's cold. The 6ft EE version is 78" so you will have plenty of room.

It's here! Four weeks, to the day, from order to delivery. Not bad :)

Really really glad I went for the extra length (6' and I'm 5'6") - just the right amount to pull snuggle down to get it in close under my ears and around the back of my neck. Just got in and did it all the way up with the pad straps - way too hot to do that in here! The Wide width is great and I can fully roll over and back again without any twisting or disrupting coverage.

Weight is 619g 8)

Do you mean the zip looks lightweight or you would prefer some other manner of forming the footbox?

Well damn now I have another sleeping bag to add to the list. I am about 6 foot on the dot, would I need to upgrade to long to get the same snuggle room as yours do you reckon? Did you get the regular width? How is the room for side sleepers/turners?

I've only spent about 10 minutes in it so far, but am able to turn from side-to-side without disturbing the quilt at all, when using the pad attachment straps. I sleep on my side.

Snuggle room might not be a good thing at very cold temps, as it means slightly more air space inside, but given I over-specced on the temp rating (20F + 1oz overstuff) I can't see this being an issue and to be honest I appreciate the wiggle room. I got the wide width and it is a very generous fit. I can pull both edges together under me and that's about the limit of tightness that I could tolerate. Any tighter and I probably wouldn't be able rug up quite so effectively when the mercury plummets.

With my feet at the bottom of the footbox, and laying on my back, the top of the quilt is level with the top of my head. I am 167cm tall.

Now I just have to talk my wife into converting my silk liner into a fitted sheet for my Downmat :)

Are you in Hobart zodiac?

Thanks!

Appears I should get the longer size then, seem to be a little shorter than specced. While you're right about the extra space, that can be made up via a jacket which is why i want it wider anyway! I'll be expecting some fairly cold weather (negative 3-6) at times so will probably go the 10 degree. Those new enigma quilts sure look enticing. Can I ask why you went with the Revelation in particular?

I was trying to choose between a Katabatic Alsek or a Zpacks bag but now I'm all up in the air again. I emailed Tim some questions, will see how it goes. Argh!

I liked the price and design of the RevX but didn't like the duck down or the reviews of the 30D fabric (some say it feels plasticky). The sewn footbox on the Enigma didn't appeal to me as I think versatility is a quilts biggest asset.

I went for the 20F (-6C) as that is about the limit I would expect to experience in Tasmania - as you say, anything below can be supplemented with a down jacket. I also plan to use this quilt year-round by ventilating and/or opening it right up, as required.

Note that the 6' length is presented on the website as:
78″ for users up to 6′ tall (6’2″ will fit with a small amount of pressure against the foot end)

If you're in Hobart I'm happy to give you a demo :)

That was my thinking too. The only thing putting me off the Enigma is the footbox.

Yeah that rating is really for a worst case scenario I can see down here. Seems you are in the same scenario as me, except i have overseas trip plans with it also. Does it pack up small?

I am in Hobart, only a 10 minute walk out of the CBD. If you're happy for me to come check it out that would be great! Where are you located? PM me if you need too.
