Hmmmm, I wonder if that was taken after a long and slow scrub bash?

The distinctive peak on the left (coug, cough, splutter - who put all the cloud in there?) is Barn Bluff.
How do we know? Well - the base looks right!!
No seriously folks - the ridge at the back with the distinctive bump on it has a vegetation signature on it!
That would make Cradle that distinctive peak behind that massive cloud (can you see it) - with the peak on the right being Mt Emmett.
BarnRidge.JPG

I see Nick S is zeroing in, so I will hazard that it is from the climb up Pelion West - looking across the arm of that mountain that is on its north east side..

I'm guessing its from part-way up East Pelion (from near Toad Rock)... West Pelion is the bluff in the left of the picture (so Oakleigh would be in the cloud on the right).

Then again, I was wrong last time.... :?

EDIT: looking again at the pic... Oakleigh would be out of frame to the right

Hmm - a bit trigger happy I think.
I don't think the other arm would be visible from there.
So its got to be further back - meaning Paddy's Nut, Thetis and the connections in between.
[That would make that ridge the actual climbing ridge for Pelion West]

The rock type is not dolarite, so he is not up on the peak itself, so I will say on the saddle between Paddy's Nut & Ossa

OK then... Working my down the list of replies since my last visit...

It's not from Oakleigh.

It's not after a long slow scrub bash MJD, though it was on the same (extended) walk.

It is Barn and Emmett inthe clouds, with a large cloud hiding another famous peak there somewhere.
But it isn't from February Plains (though I reserve the right to review that, after I check where exactly February Plais is).

Eggs is right re the signature scrub, as is he right re "the base looks right".
But it is not from Pelion West.

Kramster sorry I have not been any closer to Pelion East than Pelion Gap so it's not from there.

Eggs your last gap of Paddys Nut, Thetis, and the connection in between, sorry, are all wrong.
But reading further into your post, the saddle between Ossa and Paddys Nut is correct.
Here's another look at the saddle from earlier that day...

Thanks tasadm
I am getting in the habit of discussing my reasoning - in case it gives others hints they can build on.

Anyway - they have all been getting a bit harder.
Maybe this one will be particularly easy - but you never can tell...

Well spotted
That is my son.

For those who are tourists, this might be easy.
For those who are serious bushwalkers, this might be hard.
Being from interstate with a family, I am a bit of both.

More of a bushwalk than that - but you should be able to make out the odd peak in the background.

[I didn't know there were craggy mountains on the tahune airwalk? And how high over the river does it go  ]

Well done dee_legg

I wonder how many of the members of this site have done the marvellous short walk out to Donaghy's Hill lookout over the Franklin & Collingwood rivers and a great view to Frenchman's Cap. A great walk even for small kids. Don't let them wander out where my son is though.

For those interested, the river in the valley is the Collingwood - the section used by the rafters to get to the Franklin.
And the snow sprinkled peak at the back is Gould's Sugarloaf.

Your turn dee legg

Hyperion and Eros in the foreground on the right. Must be close to Lake Elysia, somewhere on the north western side?

You could be on to something there... I remember rocks that looked like that near Risdon Vale, though it's been a while.
Only other place I remember rocks like that is heading to Hobart, pass Kempton, over the next hill then down the bottom, sweeping bend, there's a cave in the rocks that looks a bit like that, on the left.
In other words, I've got no idea.
