Buddy Backpacker', 5, becomes the youngest hiker ever to complete the grueling 2,180-mile Appalachian Trail
Long Island, New York youngster Christian Thomas, AKA Buddy Backpacker, started the trek with his parents in April

I know kids can cope with much more than is usually asked of them but I have a lot of difficulty accepting this story.

doc in new zealand specify on the great walks children should be at least ten years of age...
