Right. I think you'll probably know this one:

Well scavenger, must be a Monday morning - not much action on this one.

My first thought was no idea.
But then I noticed that the lake at the back had dead trees at its edge - so its a hydro lake.
That got me thinking Peddar or Gordon - but no obvious match came to mind.

Then I noticed that the water on the right was not part of the same lake - but was significantly higher.
Even less chance of being near Gordon or Peddar, but where..??

Where was a small perched lake sitting above a hydro lake?
Then I remembered the West Coast and a photo I have looking down on Mt Farrell. Yep - it matches
Lake Herbert is below the arrow (behind the tree line) and the circle is where I think you were.
1104MtFarrell.jpg

I think you are on the track near the top of Mt Farrell looking over Lake Herbert and Lake Macintosh
But given that so few walk this track, what made you think people would pick it easily?

Last time I saw a ridge like that was from the top of Frenchmans so I will say somewhere pretty close to North Col. But now I am going to cross-reference photos to be sure.

Definitely a bit further up Frenchmans than North Col, just honing in on an exact guess now...

That answer will do.
It is from the Frenchman's ascent track looking over the ridge to the Irenabyss.
Probably half way up or a little more from the North Col track junction.
Mountains in the back are West Coast Range - Left to Right - Jukes, Huxley, Owen

OK So you are on the side of Frenchmans a bit above the sign that says Lake Tahune Left, Irenabyss Right, Summit up...
You are looking toward Lake Burbury and you can see the mountains in the background that I will guesstimate as being Mt Sedgwick, Marble Bluff, and Mt Murchison.

Well I was wrong with the peaks, only had the 1:100000 Franklin to go by.

But I certainly know where you were...

Yes you were of course right, and No I don't know what the other clues are.
Going by the antennas, I was going to say "On a roof" but too many trees for that.

To work this one out, I would need to identify at least one of the hills. The horizon does look a bit like Sleeping Beauty near Mt Wellington, or somewhere up the Wellington Range.
The haze suggests afternoon, the shadows suggest you would be looking north, so if it is Wellington Range you would be looking over the Huon Highway. But I do not recognise Mt Montague or Cathedral in this photo, and I have no idea what the high point would be that you are standing on next to some sort of radio tower.
So in summary I'm stuffed if I know.

Pointy one is almost certainly Sleeping Beauty & Montague will be the high point on the curving ridge on the right.
Cathedral will be just out of photo on the right.

I can see a Fire Tower on a mountain called Herring Back that looks to have the right view over this area?

you got it eggs, its on top of a hill called Herringback.

Its just a road up a steep hill really, I just felt like a short walk and followed the directions from this site http://mhanna.customer.netspace.net.au/herringback.htm
nice spot though, there is a phone tower on top which was the hint i guess

I think it goes in spits and spats
There were 6 postings on Sunday - which went contrary to the otherwise consistent slow down

I had already picked your first photo as Gould behind the Minotaur but someone else can work out where it was from.

I went looking for another image to post as a further clue. None of the many many many MANY images I have from this beautiful and very photogenic spot can be added without being so SO obvious. The normal direction for looking and taking photos from this spot is the other direction to this image.

The photography at this location is very special, hence my having so many photos from this spot.
I can think of at least 5 distinct mountains I can see from this location as well as the ones in this image.

Now I see eggs has given you a pretty good clue.

Just as I found an image of these peaks disappearing behind a hill as you approach Lake Ophion, I see Wello has it.
From Lake Elysia the views are spectacular including Acropolis, Geryon, Hyperion, Eros and Walled, among others I suspect.
Geryon link is a Dombrovskis photo.

Your go wello.

St Patrick's Head?

Edit: Split seconds in it Nick S. Amazing coincidence. I was looking at this two days ago wondering if that track was open to the public. It appears to start on private property.
