Ummm, yeah. Sorry about that folks - a wee bit of a domestic crisis intervened.

I've posted a photo from the area previously . . . and it's not Mt Field. Or Olympus.
Actaully, it's not even the shot I meant to put up, but what the hell . . .

Scavenger, since we've gone 24hrs without a guess I think we need a few clues to get the game moving again. :)

Wild guess while waiting for clues. From Plains of Heaven on Ben Lomond Plateau.

Reset: Obviously Scavenger is having some trouble responding to the game at the moment, so I have decide to reset the game. We'll catch up with Scavenger a bit later on and find out the details of the mystery site.

This also gives me an opportunity to mention a couple of points that might help you enjoy the game.

1) If no progress is made in 24 hours then the Photographer should volunteer some additional clues.
2) If a Photographer posts a picture and then finds that he/she can't monitor the game, then just PM the answer to another player who will act as "Proxy Photographer". Both SOB and I are willing to act as proxy at any time.
3) And for those who don't play the game because you don't have photos you can post if you win - remember the winner can give their turn to any other person to post an image. There are plenty of other players who have photos to post, so jump in and guess away!

Ok, here the next image. What is the name of the feature I am standing on?

Archer's Knob in Narawntapu.
If I am correct, anyone else may feel free to take my turn and post an image.

bushrunner is correct. And for anyone who hasn't been to Narawntapu, the area from the Visitors Centre (top right), right around behind the Lake is one of the best places to photograph wombats. You'll even see Forester up close, and a variety of birds on the Lake.

So anyone who would like to post can jump in.

OK, Pushing the boundaries here a little. There is a new element to this picture. Quite happy if this is ruled out of order.

Ahhhh, too easy! Nicholl's Needle it is.

Where I was pushing the envelope was that it was not a "Where Am I?". I was living in South Africa when this picture was taken in January 1970. It is one of Keith Lancaster's slides for which there is no corresponding diary story. So I am really curious as to who the 6 people are. Does anybody recognise any of them / are you one of them? :D

Wow. I didn't expect to get that right. Something dolerite which requires ropes and is a few kms in from the coast. That eliminates everything else I could think of. I'm out of the state with only a PDA so someone else can post a pic.

Wow - it sure has slowed down.
[It was good to get away and come back alive - there were some hairy bits amongst the cliffs of the Gammons. I note that most of the photos posted in that time were beyond me.]

Nice photo stubowling.
Looks like a view from the western spur off Mt Cuvier - rising up from the saddle to Mt Byron - looking past Mt Byron to Olympus with Lake St Clair & Lake Petrarch either side

And who annoyed scavenger!!?
From the clues she gave - it may have been either Cradle Plateau or Mt Eliza plateau - as she has posted pics from both those sites.
I cannot place a spot on Cradle Plateau like that, but maybe getting close to Mt Anne and looking out towards Lake Peddar, but a low angle to the photo meaning only sky in view.

Spot on eggs, on the rise to the Cuvier Plateau (east of Cuvier).
For those looking for a great 2-3 day off tracker, this one is highly recommended (tho not for the inexperienced);
Narcissus-Byron-Cuvier-Manfred-Marion track-Narcissus (or reverse).
Thank goodness for your enthusiasm for the game eggs :D

I don't know about enthusiastic, but that is the second time I have confused East with West. :?
No wonder we got lost in the Gammons.

Anyway - the photo is a slightly mismatched panoram stitch - but should be easy - with a slight trick.

Well, Ill state the obvious, you're looking down on Lakes Wilkes and Dove, possibly from the Face Track.
My only two times up there I couldn't see more than 20 metres :( But stlill had a great walk :)
Given the clue I'd say you're off track though, maybe scrambling up Weindorffers Tower?

Not a bad start.
You are right that it is not the Face Track - but I am still unaware of any track going up Weindorfers Tower - which would be very precipitous indeed!

It is actually a track of sorts though.

Looks like it might be from the track that joins the Face Track from Lake Wilks?

Ar you heading up to the saddle between Little Horn & Weindorrfer?

Good to have you back eggs, I'm sure things will move a bit quicker with you around :)

OK, try again. The position looks completely wrong for Cradle Summit track.
"a track of sorts" - Is it a climbers access track, ie for either Smithies Peak or Weindorfers Tower?

Step by step has it.

This is the Little Horn track and runs right into the saddle of Cradle before heading along it to the summit of the Little Horn.
Unfortunately we went no further than the saddle.
The good thing was that the views from the saddle are quite brilliant - and it is an easy walk up to there.

Edit - I notice that johnw's avatar is taken from very close to this track
The track actually starts up the slope very close to the junction with the track that leads down to Lake Wilks

Doh! I do recall seeing a vague-ish track heading up that way and had wondered if it led up to Little Horn. Good work stepbystep.

OK, folks, I'm really, really, really, sorry. That domestic crisis keeps sort of rolling along. Although you've been doing fine without me.
Nope, not Cradle, not the Eliza Plateau. Next clue: it's a little bit off the beaten the track - but only a little.
This is actually the shot I meant to put up, which is within 50 metres of the the other:

But feel free to ignore it while something else is rolling along. I deserve it. I'm sorry. I'm really. I'm really very very sorry. I'm honestly so . . . modding . . . sorry.
