hi,i'm trying to work out if i should buy a anjan2 or the nallo2 for NZ tramping we flyfish so will be walking along rivers in april and october ,there in a good chance of frost and maybe snow, i was worried the anjan2 maybe too cold with the fly not going all way to the ground,saying that would the nallo be an over kill

I'm biased of course, but a Nallo is never overkill.

Go for the 3 in either tent if you can I found the Anjan 2 to be way less spacious than certain websites claimed.

I like free-standing 3-pole dome tents for winter camping. My choice would be the Allak.

I attempted fly fishing on the South Island in October with frustratingly poor results.

Local consensus was that in October temps there are few insect hatchings and sluggish fish.

yea RonK fishing can be tough early season,and the weather too ,re tents the 2 in either was just for me i quite like the idea of the vestibule area?

this day we had a max of 8 all day cold if your from QLD i'm guessing now that a tent with a fly all the way to the ground would be ideal ?

I've got both the Nallo 2 and 3 (GT) - the 2 is pretty tight for 2 people - the 3 is a better choice of the Nallos, IMHO, and I love the extended vestibules.

The Nallo 2 is fine. Some posters seem to think that you will need a 3, but that may be a McMansion thing. One of my long-term walking partners is a 1.9m tall fireman. The 2 is fine. The 3 is heavier, of course, but it also comes down to what sort of weather and conditions you are expecting. I would opt for the Nallo 2 over the Anjan 2. Just saying.

I have a Nallo 3GT and a Nallo is not the best option for what you describe.
I'd get a TarpTent StratoSpire 2 because its lighter and very roomy. That's what you want in the rain, lots of room to stay away from the walls.
You'd have more room in that than a Nallo 2.
I am sure it would take light snow which is what you might expect.
I'd only go for a Nallo if you were in true 4 season high snow conditions consistently above the treeline in winter/early spring.
Fishing in October/April does not equate to that.

Warmth is also a myth - yeah a double wall tent may make it 4 degrees warmer but so would a down bag that has half an inch more loft. And that will weigh far less than the double wall tent.

And I always thought the big thing about double wall tents is the condensation issue. Rather, the relative lack of condensation . . .

Re Nallo 2 vs 3 - yes, 2 people do fit in the 2, but there's no space beside your sleeping mats. Same with 3 people in a Nallo 3. Weight difference between the two is not much ?400g.

Having said that, I have taken to using a Zpacks hexamid twin (as a solo tent) for NZ fishing trips. Weight is about 500g. I also take a cuban tarp to stand under when it rains a lot! I really only use the Nallo in the mountains when I need something bomb-proof for wind. Even though they are very stable tents, they don't shed heavy snow as well as a dome.

hi andrew,how do you find the screen floor on the Zpacks?

Fine. The screen material is pretty light, and I've had a few small tears in it, which is annoying, but you just have to treat it like any other ultralight gear. I have been toying with just seeing the Cuban floor into the tent, and deleting the screen floor, but just haven't got around to it yet. Water run off does tend to run down the screen sides in heavy rain, and the separate floor allows the water to run under the floor, which may be an issue with sewing the floor in - I was going to see it in with a 3cm "lip" sitting above the screen sides to stop this. Otherwise a great little tent.
