Fire query: PCT

Postby aNomaly » Sat 23 Jan, 2016 3:25 pm

Hey all.. Am currently hiking PCT, (up on Leven Canyon right now), and was wondering if there's any fire concern from here to the end.
Have looked on firetas and spoken with parks. Neither appear concerned, however some volunteer fire fighters I spoke with two days ago said there was activity on Black Bluff.
I have plb.

Just had a look at the Tas Fire website
It was updated tonight at 6.06 pm
It says very little about the fire and if the icon on the map is correct it is located north of Lake Lea
The size is not reported. It just states "going"

Definitely not much info on that fire but you would get a pretty good indication of what is going on as you climbed up the range.

I'd agree, resources stretched, determine for yourself. A friend has looked at this one and it wasn't a problem late last week but they are spotting and spreading at whim with so much dry fuel. There's a lot of activity centered from Cradle Mt. You could try the VC, maybe better idea there locally for Lk Lea ((03) 64 921 110 ) I'd explain exactly where you are and the gravity of an accurate answer.

Thanks all.
It looked pretty clear from to of Bluff.. Couldn't see any plumes or shots, although it smelt very firey this morning.
Am making camp at 4 ways tonight.
Smoke sure is thick!
