Now i'm intrigued;
robl - not Lake Oenone, nowhere near that expanse of boulder fields up there (see below):
Lake Oenone.JPG

The only other place I can think of with that extent of boulder fields (other than Ben Lomond that is) is Mt Barrow?

yep, Nick S is correct. Not quite the carpark but a little bit behind the hut at sunset. I think its Markham Heights on the left and Misery Bluff on the right.

As it looks like ILUVSWTAS is out enjoying this possibly first fine weekend after 23 rainy ones, I have scrounged the bottom of my old slide box to post something to stir the Game along a bit. :wink:

Norts probably used his maximum wide angle to get the length of the Ironbounds in the photo, but shrinking them vertically in the process :lol:
Look forward to seeing your photos of today's "blue sky" outing in the Gallery soon. :D

Hmm - noone having a go at this one.
It is a lovely old photo - but the key feature is the square looking mountain peeking over the clouds in the distance.

One thinks - Cradle Mountain from the NW (hiding the cradle face)? - probably see more of a ridge line to the right?
Mt Olympus end on from the South. Surely we would also see Rufus?

Eldon Bluff? - putting us somewhere around Mt Arrowsmith? Suspect we would see more peaks in the background - but possibly not.

What other isolated flat top mountains are there?
And there appears to be a road across the mountains in the foreground?

:wink:

I have to make an apology :mrgreen: to eggs who has made a brilliant attempt to create a hypothesis that may fit my photo, HOWEVER, as I did not have a suitable photo handy yesterday, I grabbed this one from some old slides I recently scanned of a six day 1978 trip to Mt Albert Edward (3990 metres) in the Papua New Guinea central ranges. I remember our discussions at the time on how much this terrain resembled alpine NZ or Tasmania, so thought I would slip it in for an hour or so while I tried to dig up a suitable Tassie photo. Well other tasks got in the way and it didn't happen, so the correct answer could have been . . . . from NOWHERE in Tasmania :lol: The flat top mountain in the distance is Mt Yule at 3,050 metres, and the "road" on the LH ridge is the walking track. Fantastic walking country, but it was difficult to comprehend packing my NZ wool shirt and woollen vest and long johns in Port Moresby's tropical heat and humidity the day before flying from sea level to Garaina Woitape at 1600 metres to start walking. Me on the right :D

I think you deserve to post the next photo eggs for having a good go at it :!:

Well I have no idea how that will add to walkinTas stats for the game?
Anyway - I have a new slide converter and I tried it out on a few very small slides (I think they are 16mm?) - so the quality is still rough.
