Those of you in the Bushwalking community in Northern Tasmania will be saddened to know of the passing on Thursday 1st October, of Arnold Rowlands, noted Tasmanian bushwalker, passionate conservationist, and architect of the Scott-Kilvert hut at Lake Rodway. The death and Funeral notice was in today's Examiner and I assume also the Advocate. I got to know Arnold and his wife Mavis though the joint venture presentations of the Launceston Walking club's "Do You Know Tasmania" shows in Ulverstone and Burnie over the past 15 years, where Arnold as Secretary of the Tasmanian Conservation Trust (NW Branch) organised the local promotion for the shows, and through this raised funds for their conservation programs in NW Tasmania. His life has made a difference in the Tasmania we leave for future generations.
