Brown mountain

Postby bluewombat » Sat 24 Sep, 2016 7:39 am

Hi all
I am assuming that the "Brown mountain" referred to in the Peaks in Tassie list is the one outside Richmond . By the looks of Tas Maps it seems access is best via Woodsdale road.Does anyone have any advice on best access to this, gpx file etc.
thanks

Howdy bw

You're right, follow the gated unsealed road from Woodsdale Rd. When I did it if you keep following the road after it tops out there was a cairn on the side of the road. Pretty straight forward to the top. The actual high point is contentious. I went to both which was a bit of a pita...it's not a very inspiring walk, I started pre-dawn which added some interest...

Thanks SBS
I assume the gates are not locked. Nothing like contentious high points to add a bit of tedium
cheers

I recommend you make a day of it and visit Mt Hobbs as well, which is not far away. Hobbs is a short walk from a gate.
