That has to be taken just as you reach Cox's Bight on the South Coast track, with Matsuyker Island in the distance and the New Harbour Range on the right.

I don't think that this location has appeared in the "game" yet, so an easy one for the locals perhaps?

I don't think it's here, but just to show how similar coast lines can look alike - Roaring Beach @ Nubeena, Tasman Peninsula (northern bluff).
I haven't been down there for nearly 2 years, even as a keen surfer which is a little embarrassing, particularly with my uncertainty.
Don't remember there being a trig station down there either, & I would assume this is probably up north coast somewhere (hence the lack of swell).
If this is Roaring, it would be a very flat surf day, it normally always has more swell than this?
Don't think this is right but maybe it will help point others in a direction?

That was my initial thoughts also sbs, upon further investigation (my photos from camping at Copper Cove), I'm pretty confident that it's not the correct answer.

A large flat topped coastal prominance?
There are only 2 places that leap out at me. Table Cape out of Wynyard or the Nut at Stanley.
So the big question is getting an angle on them?

There is an extension of land north of the Nut allowing a view back past it to the coast heading east.
Curiously - this is where Port Latta is - where the slurry pipeline from Savage River ends.
It has a large jetty for loading the ore - and if you open up this picture you can just make out a very long loading jetty in the distance.
So this would be from the road to an historical site - looking at the Nut with Godfreys Beach on the right.

PS - how many locals have visited the Nut? Or is it a bit like the West Coast?

Excellent deduction as usual, eggs :!: Yes this is a telephoto shot from the entrance to Highfield at Stanley, looking south east at the end of the Nut. Your post :D

We got there!! Its Orford Beach - which is on ocean side of the narrow point that has Millingtons Beach facing back into the Prosser River.
A short walk from the shops of Orford.

Yep ... got there. Though I was a bit like a blow fly finding the gap in the screen door! Thanks eggs.

Okay, I'll stick with the coastal theme. The name of the nearest beach would get bonus points (if we had 'em) :)

cheers

Hmmm - a bit quiet. Pleasant weather may have dragged everyone out. That plus maybe the "usual suspects" aren't all that familiar with this place.

So ... some clues:

1) It's not all that far from the "far" eastern shore of Hobart - by water that is.
2) By road, however, it's closer to Port Arthur than to Hobart.

cheers

Sorry folks - neither of those. I might have to lower expectations and just ask for the name of the reserve (that's a hint - not a national park). Get those maps out, and go east from Cremorne or Clifton,

cheers

Ooops! I took my own advice and looked on the map. And blow me down if Green Head, as guessed by stepbystep, isn't just behind where I'm standing to take the pic! I'd been there without knowing its name. Derrrr

So stepbystep is close enough. The place is just north of Lagoon Beach on the west side of Lime Bay State Reserve ... a lovely walk it is too. Over to you sbs,

cheers (& apologies)
