A desert hikeDepends what you mean by desert, as there are several types in Australia. In terms of arid land but not range upon range of sandhills, hike from Silverton NSW to Eldee Station (camp), 19km away through ... the great nothingness. Lots of critters to observe and follow you: eastern browns, inland taipans, very large spoyders, harmless blue-tongues, skinks, emus, roos, wild pigs... and more stars in the Big Sky than you can poke a camera at. No, I haven't walked but I have mountain biked it (definitely not to be done in summer). On that trip the Barrier Range on your right would be your constant companion ensuring some directional stability.
