Heading off in February to the North island of New Zealand. Planning on doing the 8 day walk in Tongariro National Park that starts at Whakapapa Village, follows the Tongariro circuit and then continues around Mt.Ruapehu. The Department of Conservation website in New Zealand has been useful as we plan but is light on day by day track description. Has anyone done this walk or knows of good local Kiwi bushwalking sites like this one that I could post to? Thanks

I have not done the walk but you might like to try the following sites. Remember that bushwalking is called tramping in NZ - you will get a lot more results in Google using that term.
http://tramper.co.nz/ - includes a forum
http://www.backpack-newzealand.com/nz/cat3.php - this one is more for backpackers

Thanks for the website suggestions - and good point about using the word 'tramping' in my search.
Cheers
