WE use stitching and on my new tent also stitched on but I prefer buttons.
Any LW proofed fabric will work and the cheaper the better as they are a semi disposable thing.
Determine the spacing and sew small loops onto the bottom of the fly, parachute cord or similar, then sew matching buttons or plastic toggles to bits of fabric.
200 to 300mm depth and what ever length works.
No need to be neat and tidy and using coated fabric means no need to sew the edges to stop them unravelling although I would double the fabric where the toggles/buttons are sewn on
WE are doing an updated model of the tents with valances, front and rear edges only and none on the sides, I think they need to be on all edges but WE say that this can decrease ventilation and lead to increased condenstation
