great internet GPS site...

Postby Liamy77 » Thu 06 May, 2010 8:10 pm

Hey folks i was put onto this site by "stepbystep" - credit where it is due ...
The reason i am posting this is that this site is great with some useful tools but i think it will be even better if more folks take 5 mins to upload tracks and data for all of us to share... have a look and see what you think.
I am a new user with GPS gear and have always prefered a compas and map (still got em too) but this is useful and will work out elevations etc like the more expensive GPS's have....
Feel free to let me know what you reckon.
Happy walking!!
Cheers, Liam.

All credit to PeterJ(from this site) who obviously puts the time into uploading his routes, I will add to them if I can figure out how to when I get my unit operating.
Love the elevation profile for WAR A-K http://www.sharemyroutes.com/routes/Aus ... ofile.aspx

you can actually make a path in google earth, and upload that as a route too if it helps!
but it needs to be ACCURATE and can stuff up the distances listed on the site - the track you download is ok though (as ok and accurate as you made it - I find i usually get an error margin of up to 50 meters) as i have put up and tested a track before making it publicly available to test this theory.
