Austinmer <--> coalcliff - which descent is safer?

Thu 27 Mar, 2025 3:22 pm

I'm tall and a little top-heavy, which means that while I'll happily do any amount of climbing, picking my way down steep slopes is no fun. (I also have an ankle I shouldn 't land heavily on, which limits how far I can jump down off rocks etc)

I'm thinking of doing austinmer-coalcliff sometime - which direction will involve the least amount of sit-and-dangle or other undignified manouvres?

The Colacliff section is a walking track.

The Austinmer section involves ladders and stairs.

Neither section will see you scrambling or needing to use your hands (besides on the ladders for balance).
