I believe the 'slot' in question is a reference to the rock wall the track passes beneath not long after you leave the Ahearn's track. Curious to know if you left Rocky Waterholes by the old switchback, or did you return via the Nattai?

On the two occasions we've been up Rocky Waterholes Creek, we exited up the first side creek on the left (true right) after the Iron Creek junction. Then up to the ridge to the west and out to the lookout (Fingers Lookout?) before returning to Wattle Ridge.

I haven't been up/down the switchback (Chasm Track?).

Does anyone know the current state of the switchback track down into the chasm, in terms of scrub, navigability etc (and does it go all the way to RWC)? It looks OK from satellite imagery from a few years back but accounts vary. Could be a nice circuit via Wattle Ridge, down RWC and back via the Slott or Starlights (without the scrub bashing up to Fingers LO mentioned above  )
