Yeah, unless you can get formal permission from one of the bounding land owners I'd avoid the place;
unless of course you're favourite movies are Wolf Creek, Turkey Shoot & The Hills Have Eyes
The Sky Farm Road land owner no longer allows walkers to use his road for access, which is fair enough as there are Telstra towers on top & he's just trying to protect their assets.
Me & my girlfirend had not 1 but 2 run-ins with scary hill billys on Saturday trying to get to the top via other bounding roads (Molesworth side + Lyell Highway side).
One lot of hill billys chased us or 'escorted' us back to the main road (ie. 4WD right on my tail).
The other lot of hill billys blocked the road behind us with 2 x 4WD's & with misssing-toothed grins stated that we "...look a little lost, he, he, he" (think Wolf Creek style chuckles); some smooth talking was required to get us out of the 'cooking pot' there (probably more literally than figuratively

).
I'll save that summit for later I think.
Pretty annoying that these urban fringe peaks aren't accessible to the public, they sould be reserves with walking tracks for all to enjoy.
If I ever get close to finishing the Peak Baggers list this may be one of my last summits.
