Bathurst Harbour Kayak Map

Postby wander » Tue 16 Nov, 2010 10:20 am

I have seen over the shoulder of kayakers a kayak map of Bathurst Harbour with landing, water and camp sites noted. But I am having trouble tracking it down. Any chance of find a copy somewhere?

Alternatively I suspect there would be a detailed sailing / cruising map of the area with safe achoranges and the like marked over and above the typical marine map. Is there such a beast?

What a fantastic link Phil thanks.
It's long been a dream of mine to spend some time exploring and diving around Port Davey. A truly beautiful place
Nothing to see here.

A great place - I have spent a few summers down there for work and would love to return with just a sea kayak and a months worth of food. So much to see and do.
Cheers - Phil

Thanks for the link tastrax, I met folks who were surveying boaties last Summer for their knowledge of the "rules" of Bathurst Harbour. Some very interesting discussion about the life in the Harbour, much of which appeared to me was essentially unknown, and what we did know about was most curious. Part of which prompted the current trip in planning. The map on the Parks page is written around big boats rather than smaller craff like kayaks, except for all the do not disturb and keep the area clean requirements which apply to everybody.

Yeah, that looks like a fascinating place to get underwater. Best to treat it like a Rip drift dive, though, with a manned boat. Pity Rowan's sold Red October . . .
