NW Bushwalk Recommendations

Postby cmscott0 » Mon 20 Dec, 2010 4:08 pm

Hi Everyone

I am looking at doing an overnight bushwalk on the NW just after Christmas and was wondering if anyone has some good suggestions (preferably walks that are Easy to moderate difficulty), I had thought of doing Lees Paddocks but there is an issue with access atm.

Thanks

Dunno, but I've always wanted to camp up on Roland/Van Dyke/Claude.

Mt Pillinger. Bit of a climb to start with on the Arm River track but you can camp at the tarn on the little loop mentioned in Chapmans book (approx 500m south of Lake Price). The track up Pillinger is surprisingly good given Chapman's comments. Or the Walls of Jerusalem.

If Lees is close enough then you've got heaps of options. What about the Walls? Lake Myrtle, or for something interesting, up on Rogoona? Beyond Grail Falls is also interesting, had a lovely evening up on Cathedral once... Bit tougher tho.
Arm River track gets you to the centre of Tassie with places like Oakleigh at your disposal.
I have camped up on Roland, fair while ago though.
Scott Kilvert hut? (Oh the irony...)
Or Waterfall Valley.
Geez where do I stop?

G'day cmscot0,
Whilst the Pine Hut Plains block has been sold I doubt that access to Lees Paddocks has been blocked and upon reflection what can the new owners do to prohibit access (hire security ,put up a fence ? ) I tend to think not so until we really know better it is game on for this less taxing overnighter ,we will most certainly be using it to complete a circuit walk via the Never Never in late January :)
