Scotts Peak Road

Postby zach77 » Wed 05 Jan, 2011 2:18 pm

Hi all,

My mate and I are planning a traverse of the Western Arthurs, this summer. I am handling the logistics, and trying to do so on the cheap. This means picking the brains of some experienced regional bushwalkers for some first hand beta. What kind of vehicle is suitable for Scotts Peak Road? 2wd or AWD/4wd? I took a look at this stretch of gravel road on Google maps, but that doesn't really give a hint, and there were no pictures either. Let me know your opinions...

zach

p.s. I am sure it can get down to 0 degrees even in summer, but should we expect much colder conditions than that?

Hi Zach, 2WD is fine, it's just gravel. You need to be prepared for blizzards which can happen at any time of the year. It does rain quite often... or you might get extremely sunburnt! Not sure how low temperatures get, but there is also the wind chill factor.
