Mt Solitary Log Book Replaced

I was up solitary a couple of weeks ago and the log book was full up.

I had another chance to do the traverse as training for a walk up coming and I left a fesh book up there. I didnt take the other one as it was pouring and my smart choice of pack leaks as if it was made from chicken wire so I left the full one up there.

Heads up to anyone who may have time to fetch it and deposit it with the proper authority.

Just out of interest, who are the proper authoritys.
I was up there about a month ago and did have trouble finding space to sign my name in that book.
Looks like i'll be heading back sometime soon to mark the new one

Yeah just a short detour off the track. Im not sure if there are other books up there maybe down Korrowall ridge? Anything in Chinamans gully would get used as firestarted and loo paper I reckon.

Temps were awesome through the day sub 20s!




I understood that it was parks but have heard different from different sources. I think some clubs take them to the library. Maybe parks does this as well andis just a middle man.

Mitchell Library, part of the State Library of NSW (http://www.sl.nsw.gov.au) is the appropriate place for old log books. They get archived. Doesn't stop plenty of people from writing puerile comments unfortunately!

A couple more photos of the Korowal Knife Edge climb to add to Lindsay's. We're descending but you get the idea. Not too difficult but has some steep/scrambly bits. I thought I had one of Chinamans Gully but I can't find it, only from the lookout nearby.

This spot is a bit awkward because of the angle of the large chockstone in the middle. It's narrower and steeper than it looks.

I have sheltered from the rain under that overhang in Chinaman's gully!

That cliff edge at the camp site on top of Mt Solitary is one of the best places going to watch the sunset.

Been over 20 years since I last did a Mt Solitary traverse. Now that the kids are a little older, I've started bushwalking regularly again, taking them to some of the places I used to go back in the late 80's/early 90's.

There used to be a huge frying pan hanging up on a hook in the cave at Chinaman's on top of Mt Solitary. Don't see it in the picture.

Has anyone ever compiled a checklist of all the bushwalk signing-logbooks available in the Blue Mountains ? I can think off-hand of the ones on the Col, Redledge, Dunphy's, Clark Head, the new one on Harmil......any more ?
