Can anyone tell me how large an area of land would have been inundated by the main Franklin Dam that was proposed years ago? A quick Google search was unhelpful.
Gordon Below Franklin Dam, Tasmania, Australia: Environmental Factors in a Decision of National Significance - H. Bandler; details that;
"The storage floods 14.6sq km of the present South West Conservation Area and 118.4sq km of crown land"
Power in Tasmania - Peter Thompson; details that the alternative Gordon above Olga would have flooded 82sq km of the Gordon, Orange, Smith, Albert, Denison, and Maxwell River valleys.
Thanks Ray, that's exactly what I need to know. On the continent, we have a developent proposal that will alienate just over 120 square kilometres of land. I guessed that would about the size of the Franklin Dam which was about right.
