- Deny King's boatshed, Melaleuca
I was lucky enough to have a quick trip into Melaleuca recently. It's a fascinating mix of wilderness and human history. The landscape itself is probably an Aboriginal artefact, caused by frequent small-scale burning over millennia. And the mining and other activities of the King, Clayton and Willson families are also evident. But it's still a wonderfully wild place, exemplified by being able to hear the pounding surf from Cox Bight some 10km away.
