what's your favourite day walk in SEQ?

i thought it was high time that we blew some life into the qld forum and gave our tasmanian cousins a run for their money...

so in the spirit of starting up a bit of qld discussion what is your favourite day walk in SEQ?

mine is the hill circuit in noosa national park. we usually do noosa hill circuit then down to parkedge rd, back up via the a-bay circuit and then along the coastal track. i love the coastal scrub and stopping for a swim on a hot day is just the icing on the cake. unfortunately it can be a little hard to find a bit of peaceful serenity on the beach side.. but the inland parts more than make up for it.

For me, it's the Border Trail between Binna Burra and O'reillys at the Gold Coast hinterland.

Depends what I'm in the mood for. If it's adventure, challenge and views anything up Barney is pretty hard to beat. If it's a hot day then one of the waterfall circuits in the Gold Coast Hinterland is a godsend.

I'll jump on board this one dannnnnn ...

For me it's gotta be Barney. From the first time up Peasants ridge its had me hooked. I haven't been up all ridges or routes yet, but I'd find it hard to choose between Logans,Eagles, the Leanings ... Mezzanine, Savages, Midget... OK, I think they're all great and whenever I know I have a free walking day coming up (sadly not that often these days) Barney is usually somewhere near the top of the list. I have been known to venture away from Barney however, and other walks that immediately spring to mind would be the Steamers/ Davies Ridge circuit; the Ballow range; any off track epic in Lamington... did I mention Barney ?
Look forward to hearing a few other ideas.

South East Queensland has so many good walks, and though I have done many, I cant single out any one favourite. However, any walk in the McPherson Ranges that involves a waterfall and a rainforest (which most do) or a view from the scenic rim does it for me. As far as i am concerned, Elabana falls is the prettiest single destination to walk to, but it is hardly a day walk, being a short walk from O’Reilly’s. I also love the track from Binna Burra to Lower Ballanjui Falls, as I believe that valley escaped logging and there are some of the finest specimens of rainforest trees, in particular one of the largest red cedars I have ever seen!

Heading up there soon, what good walks can I do to waterfalls (that are nice for swimming) can I do in the Noosa area?

I love the Baroon Dam to the Baroon Dam lookout in the sunshine coast hinterland. If your really keen you can continue up to mapleton falls and even further still and enjoy the full 4 day great walk. Absolutely beautiful!!

Depends on the season - summer - Lamington creek walks - the longer ones so you can have them mostly to yourself!
winter - Mt Maroon - a bit like Hartz peak in Tassie - not too hard, but great view to effort ratio!!

Natural Bridge in the Gold Coasts Hinterlands is an easy walk for spectacular scenery

I forget the name, but the one that goes from Springbrook down to the Nerang River and back up again, though the Binna Burra circuit is pretty magical. I miss walking in SEQ, though I definitely don't miss the heat and humidity!

Lost World plateau is my great SEQ day walk that has a great variety of terrain from open eucalyptus forest, dramatic rocky ridge, steep grassy slopes, and rainforest creek above waterfall on top. Warrie circuit, Springbrook gets my vote....

Start nice & early and you'll bump into all sorts of creatures on the track.......

We went around the Warrie Circuit last weekend, great walk with a bit of everything. Lots of wildlife, birds, snakes about, wallabies,
pademelons etc nice views at the top, cliffs, rainforest creeks, and lots of cool trees! It looks like you had much more water on the track
when you were there ofuros, most of the falls had about half as much water as your shots show but still spectacular nonetheless. For a
bonus we saw a Pergrine Falcon up the top sitting on a dead tree branch, awesome...

& for a walk thats just as easy on the eye but with far less effort my vote would go to the Natural Arch, I just love how the creek pours
through a huge hole in the rock!

Eagles on Barney though there is no way I'd be fit enough to do it in a day now. Used to love Tooloona creek at Lamington in the rain as well.

Love Creek Falls from Alex Road, and return via Greenes falls, superb creek hopping walk.
Mt. May to Drynans hut via Paddys Peak, fantastic ridge walking.
Albert River Circuit at O'Reilleys, the best rainforest track walk in my view, waterfalls, lookouts, the works.

Currently I have two favourites: 1) Mt Greville- the climb through palm gorge on the way up and the views from the rocky slab on the way down were both highlights. 2) Walking from Springbrook to the Numinbah Valley. It's part of the great walk, so not technically a day walk, but we did it with a car shuffle. Loved walking down into the Numinbah Valley. Views of egg rock and turtle rock are great. There was some complaints about the prison and the road on another topic post, but I thought the views were so spectacular I didn't mind it. I also enjoyed the variation.
