Toohey Mountain & Mayne Ridge

Starting from Mayne Estate Picnic Area, Salisbury, this circuit walk gives you a tour of the northwestern corner of Toohey Forest, visiting Toohey Mountain along the way. The Toohey Mountain & Mayne Ridge track is a great way to escape the chaos of the city without leaving it. The walk takes you through a mixture of terrain and scenery. Toohey Forest is home to 400+ animal species, and the most common ones you can see in this part of it are the turkeys. These tracks are suitable for trail running as well. The signage may not be on point, but using the app/map will help you stay on track. It's an excellent option for those who want to enjoy a bit of nature and solitude within the city limits. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Then pass the BBQ (8 m on your right). After another 30 m (from the Toohey Mountain Track) turn left, to head along Toohey Mountain Track.
	After another 380 m (from the Toohey Mountain Track) turn sharp right, to head along Toohey Mountain Track. After another 40 m (from the Toohey Mountain Track) turn left.
	After another 165 m (from the Mayne Ridge Track) turn right, to head along Mayne Ridge Track. After another 30 m (from the Mayne Ridge Track) veer left, to head along Mayne Ridge Track.
	After another 35 m (from the Mayne Ridge Track) veer right, to head along Mayne Ridge Track. After another 275 m pass the "Toohey Mountain" (on your left). After another 4 m (from the Mayne Ridge Track) continue straight, to head along Mayne Ridge Track.
	After another 175 m (at the intersection of Mayne Ridge Track & Lomandra Track) continue straight, to head along Mayne Ridge Track.
	After another 185 m (at the intersection of Fimbriata Track & Mayne Ridge Track) turn sharp left, to head along Fimbriata Track.
	After another 235 m (at the intersection of Grey Gums Track & Fimbriata Track) turn sharp left, to head along Grey Gums Track (a steps). Then head up the steps (about 55 m long) After another 35 m head up the steps (about 95 m long)
	After another 45 m (at the intersection of Mayne Ridge Track & Lomandra Track) veer right, to head along Mayne Ridge Track.
	After another 175 m (from the Mayne Ridge Track) continue straight (a walking track). After another 275 m (from the Mayne Ridge Track) veer right, to head along Mayne Ridge Track (a footpath).
	After another 35 m (from the Mayne Ridge Track) veer right, to head along Mayne Ridge Track. After another 30 m (from the Mayne Ridge Track) veer right, to head along Mayne Ridge Track.
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. This optional side trip takes you to Pegg's Lookout. It should take about 7 minutes of walking (out & back). To start this optional side trip continue straight here. On returning from this side trip turn sharp right when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 295 m (at the intersection of Toohey Mountain Track & Mayne Ridge Track) turn sharp left, to head along Toohey Mountain Track.
	After another 75 m (at the intersection of Toohey Mountain Track & Fernvale Track) turn left, to head along Toohey Mountain Track. After another 105 m (from the Toohey Mountain Track) continue straight, to head along Toohey Mountain Track.
	After another 125 m (from the Toohey Mountain Track) veer right, to head along Toohey Mountain Track.
	After another 380 m (from the Toohey Mountain Track) turn right, to head along Toohey Mountain Track. After another 40 m (from the Toohey Mountain Track) turn right (a walking track). After another 10 m come to the end.

This optional side trip takes you to Pegg's Lookout. It should take about 7 minutes of walking (out & back).
