Silver Mine Loop

Starting from the Gate 18 car park on Range Road South, Houghton, this walk takes you on a circuit around Anstey Hill Recreation Park via the Silver Mine Loop. The Silver Mine Loop showcases the historic silver mines in the northeastern corner of Anstey Hill Recreation Park, following a wide track through grassy eucalypt woodlands. After a short distance, an optional side trail branches off the main track and passes a lookout with a picnic table, where walkers can stop and enjoy the views over the park and Adelaide. Further ahead, the track passes an old silver mine shaft, with protective fencing in place and interpretive signage detailing the local mining history. This circuit consists mostly of flat and well-signposted fire tracks, excluding the side trail to the lookout, and is suitable for walking, running and mountain biking. Dogs are allowed, but must be kept on a leash. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the Gate 18 car park on Range Road South, Houghton, head through the gate and follow the gravel road ahead, passing a large 'Anstey Hill Recreation Park' sign. After about 400 metres (and 5 intersections), the gravel road turns into a fire track and reaches a junction with several other trails. From there, head straight along the fire track, following the 'Silver Mine Loop' trail markers, and continue along the Silver Mine Loop (clockwise).....

	After another 130 m (at the intersection of Lookout Walk & Lookout Climb) turn left, to head along Lookout Walk (a vehicle track). After another 85 m (at the intersection of Lookout Walk & Ellis Way) continue straight, to head along Lookout Walk.
	After another 90 m (at the intersection of Silver Mine Track & Torture Hill Track) turn right, to head along Silver Mine Track. After another 10 m pass the "Trail Head" (5 m on your left). After another 65 m (at the intersection of Silver Mine Track & Swoopy's) continue straight, to head along Silver Mine Track. Keep left. After another 240 m (at the intersection of Silver Mine Track & Swoopy's) continue straight, to head along Silver Mine Track.
	After another 35 m (at the intersection of Silver Mine Track & Rosella Walk) continue straight, to head along Silver Mine Track. After another 5 m (at the intersection of Silver Mine Track & Swoopy's) continue straight, to head along Silver Mine Track. After another 295 m (at the intersection of Silver Mine Track & Swoopy's) continue straight, to head along Silver Mine Track.
	After another 25 m (at the intersection of Ellis Way & Silver Mine Track) turn right, to head along Ellis Way.
