Yarramalong to Basin Campsite

Starting at the quaint Yarramalong township, this walk follows a couple of rural roads to the Cedar Brush Trackhead. This is the longest road stretch on the Great North Walk. Some people see this is a road slog and either grab a lift or power walk it, others see it as an opportunity to stroll through the country side. However you choose to undertake this section of the walk, I encourage you to enjoy the valley views and soak up the vibe on the semi secluded rural valley community. The section along the Lyrebird Trail by the Wollombi Brook is particularly recommended. From the Cedar Brush track head, the walk winds up into the Olney State Forest through bushland (crossing over two moist gullies). Once most of your height is gained, this walk follows unsealed road before dropping down into the Wollombi Brook gully. From here, the walk follows bush tracks along Lyrebird Trail and to the Basin Campsite. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

	Start heading along Bumble Hill Road. Find the Yarramalong Store at the start. Yarramalong Store Yarramalong Store is good place to have lunch or pick up the basic food supplies. The store serves hot food including burgers, chips, pies etc as well as cold drinks. The store is open 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. There is a pay phone outside and a tap to refill water, and the store has its own fuel pump. Phone on (02)4356 1222. The address is 1625 Yarramalong Rd, Yarramalong NSW 2259. I always encourage people to use local stores like this on track, but since it is a small store it is worth phoning ahead to see what they have what you want in stock. It is a small store so choice is limited.
	At the intersection of Yarramalong Road & Bumble Hill Road turn left, to head along Yarramalong Road. After another 295 m cross the bridge (about 50 m long)
	After another 3 km (at the intersection of Brush Creek Road & Ravensdale Road) continue straight, to head along Brush Creek Road. After another 320 m cross the bridge (about 30 m long) After another 290 m (at the intersection of Brush Creek Road & Priests Ridge Road) continue straight, to head along Brush Creek Road. After another 3.3 km continue straight, to head along Brush Creek Road. After another 1.2 km continue straight, to head along Brush Creek Road. After another 950 m continue straight, to head along Brush Creek Road. After another 940 m cross the bridge (about 7 m long)
	After another 60 m (at the intersection of Brush Creek Road & Kingtree Lane) continue straight, to head along Brush Creek Road.
	After another 560 m turn right. Then climb over the stile. Then pass the "Great North Walk" (on your left).
	After another 1.7 km turn right. After another 125 m find the "Walkers Rest Area" (10 m on your left). Walkers Rest Area This GNW walkers rest area (signposted) is located beside King Ridge Road, and consists of two benches, a campfire and enough room for four or five tents on a grassy level surface. There is no water is available. After another 520 m continue straight. After another 2.9 km continue straight, to head along Walkers Ridge Road.
	After another 35 m continue straight, to head along Walkers Ridge Road.
	After another 290 m veer right.
	After another 380 m turn left, to head along Cedar Brush Walk.
	After another 650 m turn left.
	After another 1.6 km continue straight. After another 270 m cross the bridge After another 70 m pass the picnic table (10 m on your right).
	Continue straight. After another 5 m find the "Basin Campsite" (20 m on your left). Basin Campsite This large campsite sits by Wollombi Brook on the Great North Walk and is accessible by car. The campsite provides a range of facilities such as a pit toilet, picnic tables and chairs, wood BBQs and fireplaces. Water is usually available from the water tank or the nearby creek - treat before use. After another 10 m pass the toilet (25 m on your left).
	After another 7 m come to the end.
