Ridge Trail

Starting from the car park at the end of Mount George Road, Mount George, this walk takes you on a circuit around Mount George Conservation Park via the Ridge Trail. This moderately challenging loop follows a walking trail to the summit of Mount George and past a nearby rocky outcrop with a spectacular lookout, offering panoramic views of Mount Lofty, the South Eastern Freeway and the valley below. This loop consists of narrow walking trails and fire tracks, with uneven natural surfaces, compacted natural surfaces and short steep hills, suitable for average fitness levels. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the car park at the end of Mount George Road, Mount George, head along the fire track across from the picnic grounds until you reach Gate 5. Head through the gate and follow the fire track ahead, passing a green 'Mount George Conservation Park' sign (to your right). After about 50m, you'll reach a junction in the track. From there, head along the track to your left and continue the Ridge Trail (clockwise).....

	After another 35 m turn right, to head along Ridge Trail.
	After another 50 m continue straight, to head along Ridge Trail.
	After another 460 m continue straight, to head along Ridge Trail. After another 70 m continue straight, to head along Ridge Trail.
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. This side trip takes you to the summit of Mount George. To start this optional side trip turn left here. On returning from this side trip turn left when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 610 m veer right, to head along Ridge Trail.
	After another 330 m continue straight, to head along Lewis Firetrack.
	After another 335 m continue straight, to head along Lewis Firetrack.
	After another 125 m turn right.
	After another 195 m turn sharp left, to head along Ridge Trail. After another 50 m turn left, to head along Ridge Trail.
	Continue another 65 m to find at the intersection of Mount George Road & Ridge Trail at the end.

This side trip takes you to the summit of Mount George.
