	Start heading along Schlink Pass Road. Guthega Power Station (Munyang) (about 45 m back from the start). Guthega Power Station (Munyang) This was the first power station of the Snow Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme, completed in 1955. It is also known as Munyang, as the station sits just west of the confluence of the Munyang and Snowy Rivers. The station boasts two 30MW turbine and generator combinations, providing peak power to the eastern states. The turbines are powered from the water in two large pipes that form part of the Guthega Pressure Tunnel, fed by Guthega Dam. The dam is about 260m higher than the power station. Find the gate at the start.
	After another 2.2 km continue straight, to head along Schlink Pass Road. After another 880 m cross the ford.
	The alternate route finishes here. Turn left to rejoin the main route at the 3.6 km waypoint. Details below. After another 470 m (at the intersection of Schlink Pass Road & Horse Camp Hut Access) continue straight, to head along Schlink Pass Road. After another 920 m cross the bridge (about 55 m long) After another 2 km (at the intersection of Schlink Pass Road & Disappointment Spur Trail) continue straight, to head along Schlink Pass Road.
	After another 160 m veer left.
	The starting point of an alternate route. Alternate route along Horse Camp Aqueduct Trail past Horse Camp Hut. To take the alternate route veer left here. Details below. After another 450 m turn sharp right, to head along Horse Camp Aquaduct Trail.
	After another 315 m (at the intersection of Schlink Pass Road & Horse Camp Aquaduct Trail) turn left, to head along Schlink Pass Road (a service road).
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. Side trip to Whites River Hut. To start this optional side trip veer left here. On returning from this side trip error >360 when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 410 m continue straight, to head along Schlink Pass Road.
	After another 1.4 km continue straight, to head along Schlink Pass Road.
	After another 1.7 km turn left. After another 45 m pass the toilet (8 m on your right). After another 6 m find the "Schlink Hut" (10 m on your left). Schlink Hut This is a large Snowy Mountain Scheme hut built in 1961. The hut sits between the maintenance road and a set of high tension power lines which run along the valley. The hut was built to house the staff who were building and maintaining the infrastructure in the area. Today, part of the hut is left unlocked for public use. There is a pump-out toilet, flat grassy area and creek nearby for water. The hut has several rooms, beds, a fire place and a table. The hut is named after Sir Herbert Henry Schlink (1883-1962), a medical doctor and xc skier. Dr Schlink made the first winter crossing from Kiandra to Kosciusko. The hut is often called the Schlink Hilton, due to its size. After another 8 m pass the "Schlink Hilton" (7 m on your left). Then come to the "Schlink Hilton" (7 m on your left).
	Turn around here and retrace the main route for 11.1 km to get back to the start.

Side trip to Whites River Hut.

	Start. After 85 m cross the ford. After another 105 m cross the ford.
	Continue straight. After another 60 m come to a camp site. About 20 m past the end is "Whites River Hut". W:www.kac.org.au About 20 m past the end is "Whites River Hut". White's River Hut At this site, there are a few buildings - the main hut is believed to have been built in by Bill Napthali and Fred Clarke in 1935 to house them as they grazed cattle. It is also possible that the hut was built by Edward Haslingdon and his sons in 1933. The Kosciusko Alpine Club has a long history with the hut and has made many changes over the years - they are now the primary caretakers. This hut has two main rooms plus an entry woodpile annex. The second hut is behind the main hut - the SMA hut (aka the Kelvinator). This second hut is not as well maintained as the main one. There is also a pit toilet beside the hut. A large, flat, grassy area makes a great place to camp and the nearby creek is a source of water. NOTE: On 27th July 2010 an accidental fire has done significant damage to this hut, it is now fenced off and accessing the hut is unsafe. A plan is likley to be put into place to restore the hut. About 30 m past the end is a toilet., not equiped with Handwashing basin.
	The end. Turn around and retrace your steps back the 240 m to the main route.

Alternate route along Horse Camp Aqueduct Trail past Horse Camp Hut.

	At the intersection of Horse Camp Aquaduct Trail & Munyang River veer left, to head along Horse Camp Aquaduct Trail. After another 650 m cross the ford.
	Continue straight, to head along Horse Camp Aquaduct Trail.
	After another 1.6 km continue straight, to head along Horse Camp Aquaduct Trail. After another 110 m cross the ford.
	Continue straight, to head along Horse Camp Aquaduct Trail.
	After another 30 m turn left, to head along Horse Camp Aquaduct Trail.
	After another 840 m veer left. After another 140 m pass the toilet (on your right). Then pass the "Horse Camp Hut" (on your right). Then come to the "Horse Camp Hut" (on your right). Then find the "Horse Camp Hut" (15 m on your right). Horse Camp Hut Horse Camp Hut is found beside a trail linking the old Munyang-Geehi Rd with an aqueduct trail on the western side of the valley. Still in good condition, this hut was built for surveyors in the 1950s as part of the Snowy Mountains Scheme effort. The hut has a distinctive red door and two rooms. The smaller room contains bunk beds and a stove and the larger room has a fire place, table and sitting area. The hut has a timber floor and the outer walls and roof are made of corrugated iron. There is a creek nearby for water and a pit toilet is available. The grassy flat area around the hut makes for great camping. After another 25 m come to the camp site (on your right).
	Continue another 470 m to find at the intersection of Horse Camp Hut Access & Schlink Pass Road at the end. At the end of this alternate route, rejoin the main route.

  NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting ground shooting operations in the Mount Blue Cow Area of Kosciuszko National Park.
  The area of the park will be closed from 5:00pm to 7:30am daily, Tuesday 29th April to Tuesday 6th May 2025 for ground shooting for feral animal control.
  Closure notices will be placed at relevant access points around Mount Blue Cow.
  This program will target feral animals to reduce impacts on Mountain Pygmy Possums.
  We appreciate your patience while this important work is carried out.

  Guthega Road will be closed between Island Bend and Guthega (Munyang) Power Station from 7am to 5pm on Monday to Friday during the following periods:

  These closures are necessary to complete the remaining culvert replacements and allow all asphalt works to be finalized by the June long weekend.

  Guthega track head carpark will be closed to vehicles. Signage will be in place advising public to park in main Guthega carpark. Pedestrian access will be maintained through the carpark to the Snowies Alpine Walk and Illawong Walk track head.

  A baiting program using meat baits and canid pest ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison will be conducted from Saturday 22 March 2025 to Monday 22 September 2025 in Kosciuszko National Park.

  Other planned events: Notification of Ongoing 1080 Baiting - Wild Dogs/Foxes
  The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting an ongoing baiting program from Saturday 8 February 2025 to Thursday 7 August 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. This program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise the impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
  Baiting programs will take place across Kosciuszko National Park in Thredbo/Ingebyra, Dalgety/Paupong and Corrowong/Tombong/Merriangaah Wild Dog Plan Areas. Baiting programs will also be undertaken in Paupong, Merriangaah and Quidong Nature Reserves.
  This includes the following sections of Kosciuszko National Park: Thredbo Valley, Moonbah, Ingebyra, Paupong, Numbla Vale and Corrowong.
  Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location.   Safety alerts: Powerline removal being undertaken in the Jagungal Wilderness Area
  Contractors will be undertaking removal of the 11kva powerline within the Jagungal Wilderness Area. This line was damaged in the 2019/2020 fires and is no longer functional. Please be aware that heavy machinery will be operating at various times. The contractor will have warning signs in place.
  
  Closed areas: Closed areas due to Snowy 2.0 works
  The following areas are closed due to the Snowy 2.0 works from Monday 25 February 2019 until early 2027, unless the closure is extended or removed:

  Closed areas: Tantangara Reservoir partial closure
  Some parts of Tantangara Reservoir will be closed intermittently until further notice for Snowy 2.0 construction activities involving controlled blasts. Full exclusion zones will be established prior to and during blast operations. The closed areas are:
  
  Areas of Tantangara Reservoir adjacent to the Snowy 2.0 construction site.
  
  Tantangara Reservoir boat ramp, adjacent to the Tantangara Dam wall.
  
  For up-to-date timings on controlled blasts please see notifications on the Future Generation website.

  Other planned events: Ongoing increased traffic and roadworks
  There is an increase in heavy and light vehicle movements on the Snowy Mountains Highway (between Cooma to Tumut) and Link and Tantangara Roads within Kosciuszko National Park. This traffic will continue for a number of years and involves the use of specialised heavy vehicle combinations for transporting materials associated with the Snowy 2.0 project and other projects in the region.
  There will also be ongoing maintenance and upgrades to roads in the area as part of the project, particularly along Link and Tantangara Roads.

  Other planned events: Notice of Pindone rabbit control program - Thredbo
  NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program using carrots containing pindone (pindone, sodium salt) poison for the control of rabbits. This program will take place between Monday 28 April and Friday 30 May 2025 within the Thredbo Lease Area, within Kosciuszko National Park.
  All baiting locations will be signposted, and include the village, golf course and on the mountain. Free feeding using non-poisoned carrots will be undertaken before using pindone oats.
  Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets may be affected by pindone. Pets must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

  Closed areas: Kosciuszko National Park closed sites
  A number of sites in Kosciuszko National Park are closed or may have other restrictions until further notice.
  Road Closures
  Olsens Road BEYOND Geehi Dam. Olsens Road remains open from the Alpine Way to Geehi Dam.
  Fire-affected areas
  Some sections of Kosciuszko National Park which burnt during the 2019/2020 fires remain closed. These areas include:
  
  Wolgal and Pattinson's Huts
  
  Huts that burnt down in the 2020 fires
  These locations remain open, but the following huts or buildings have been lost:
  
  Linesman's No.3 Huts, Round Mountain Hut, and Dry Dam Ski Shelter.
  
  Warning: Please take care as there may be broken glass/nails that are uncovered since NPWS made records and cleaned up these sites. Please do not disturb the sites or remove artefacts.
  
  Snowy 2.0 works affecting access to Tantangara Road and Tantangara Dam
  
  Access to the southern end of Tantangara Reservoir via Quarry trail is closed to the public.
  
  Access to the southern end boat ramp is open, but may be subject to short-term closures.
  
  Current boating and camping access to Tantangara Reservoir will still be available at access points on the northern end of the reservoir, via Port Phillip and Dam trails.
  
  Do not enter closed areas in Kosciuszko National Park. Penalties apply for non-compliance. For more information, contact the local NPWS office.
  
  Closed areas: Thredbo River picnic area toilet closed
  Recent severe winds have brought down a tree on the toilet block at Thredbo River picnic area. As a result the toilet block is closed and cannot be used. Please be aware that contractors will be working at the site and will have vehicles moving in and out of the area. Other facilities at the site are available.
  
  Other planned events: Notice of ongoing 1080 wild dog and fox baiting program
  NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) will be conducting a baiting program in the north east precinct of Kosciuszko National Park, Scabby Range and Yaouk Nature Reserves within the Adaminaby/Yaouk wild dog control area.
  The program will be continuous and ongoing between 1 March 2025 and 31 August 2025, and will use meat baits and canid pest ejectors containing 1080 (sodium fluroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.
  All baiting locations will be identifiable by signs.
  Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserve. Pets and working dogs may be affected, and 1080 is lethal to cats and dogs. Pets and working dogs in the vicinity must be restrained or muzzled and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

  The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and contractors will be undertaking upgrade works at Tom Groggin campground throughout 2025. These works will include additions to campground facilities and rehabilitation planting.

  Trail maintenance works are underway on management trails east of Tantangara Road. These trails include:

  Other planned events: Notification of Ongoing 1080 Baiting - Wild Dogs/Foxes
  NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing ground baiting program from 24th February 2025 to 24th August 2025 . The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of feral animals including wild dogs and foxes.
  The program will take place in Kosciuszko National Park and Clarkes Hill, Bogandyera and Jingellic Nature Reserves.
  The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
  Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location. Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location.   Other planned events: Fire trail maintenance work - Cascade Trail
  Fire trail maintenance work is currently being undertaken on Cascade Trail between the Alpine Way and the Cowombat/Ingeegoodbee Trail intersection.
  Notification signage is present at the entry to work areas. Trail users are to be aware of heavy plant movements and comply with all directions from contractors and NPWS staff.

  Safety alerts: Guthega Road - changed speed limit due to ongoing road works
  The speed limit on Guthega Road has been reduced to 60km for the entirety of the road due to ongoing road works.
