Samphire Cove Walk

Starting from the car park on Wedgetail Street, Halls Head, this walk takes you on a stroll in Samphire Cove Nature Reserve. The walk is named after fleshy, orange and green samphire plants that can be found inside the reserve. The walk is especially suitable for birdwatching enthusiasts with lots of migratory bird species visiting. The delicate plantation allows the wildlife in the area to thrive, which in turn provides food for the migratory birds. There are viewing platforms and a boardwalk for visitors as well. You can time it right and enjoy the beautiful sunset from the estuary without leaving the city. Be cautious about the snakes, especially between December and February. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the intersection of Egret Point Road and Wedgetail Retreat, head towards the green Samphire Cove Nature Reserve sign along the paved path. Pass by the said sign and pass through the fence-stile that marks the start of the track. Head along the paved track as it veers left, then keep left at the 3-way intersection (100 metres into the walk) to continue along the Samphire Cove Walk.....

	Start. Find the car park at the start. After another 15 m head through/around the "Entrance to Reserve".
	The starting point of an optional sidetrip. A side trip to another platform for bird-watching. To start this optional side trip veer right here. On returning from this side trip turn right when you get back to this intersection. Details below. After another 75 m continue straight.
	After another 220 m cross the bridge (about 270 m long)
	Continue another 100 m to find the end. Then turn around here and retrace the main route for 700 m to get back to the start.

A side trip to another platform for bird-watching.
