Kuniya walk

The Kuniya Walk is a return track located near the Mutitjulu Waterhole in the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park. This walk features wallabies, bush foods, rock art, waterfalls, birdlife and spectacular rock formations. The Kuniya walk encompasses a vibrant cultural landscape with a captivating creation story. It is the backdrop for an awe-inspiring narrative that recounts the intense confrontation between Kuniya, the woma python woman, and Liru, the venomous brown snake man. This compelling tale epitomizes the rich cultural heritage of Uluru, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in its profound significance. Additionally, the Kuniya walk holds great importance for the Traditional Owners of Uluru, who frequently guide esteemed visitors like the Dalai Lama to this sacred and cherished location. For the most captivating experience, visit this destination during or after rainfall, when the waterfalls are at their best. You can bring binoculars or a long lens to improve your birdwatching session. Let us begin by acknowledging the Anangu people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Directions	From Stuart Highway, Ghan. Turn on to Lasseter Highway then drive for 260.6 km At roundabout, take exit 3 onto Uluru Road and drive for another 5.9 km Turn left onto Uluru Road and drive for another 1.3 km

Getting started
From the Kuniya car park, head towards the metal bollard next to the sheltered seating area. Pass through the bollard and by the said area (to your left) and head along the dirt track. About 200 metres in, keep right at the 3-way intersection to continue along Kuniya walk.....

After another 10 m pass the shelter (on your left). After another 145 m (at the intersection of Lungkata Walk & Kuniya Walk) continue straight, to head along Lungkata Walk.
	After another 35 m (from the Lungkata Walk) turn right, to head along Lungkata Walk. After another 4 m (from the Lungkata Walk) continue straight, to head along Lungkata Walk. After another 35 m (from the Lungkata Walk) continue straight, to head along Lungkata Walk. After another 15 m pass the shelter (20 m on your right). At the intersection of Kuniya Walk & Lungkata Walk veer left, to head along Kuniya Walk. After another 60 m pass the "Kulpi Mutitjulu" (35 m on your left).
	From the Kuniya Walk turn right, to head along Kuniya Walk. After another 85 m cross the bridge (about 15 m long) After another 80 m cross the bridge (about 10 m long)
	About 25 m past the end is "Mutitjulu Waterhole (Kapi Mutitjulu).". Mutitjulu Waterhole (Kapi Mutitjulu). Mutitjulu Waterhole (Kapi Mutitjulu). This lush and shady waterhole is permanent and home to many animals such as wallabies. The Dalai Lama and the British Royals are amongst the well-known people that visitied this little place of peace. Turn around here and retrace the main route for 510 m to get back to the start.
