Getting There Transport options and directions

Start	On Kaputar Summit Road (-30.2740761,150.1645347)

Directions	From Newell Highway, Narrabri, head north-west along Tibbereena Street; After 80m, turn right on to Doyle Street Narrabri. After another 70m, (take the 3rd exit at the roundabout) to turn right on to Maitland Street Narrabri. After another 250m, (take the 2nd exit at the roundabout) to continue straight along Maitland Street Narrabri. After another 250m, turn left on to Narrabri. After another 15m, turn right on to Narrabri. After another 15m, turn left on to Maitland Street Narrabri. After another 800m, continue straight along Old Gunnedah Road Narrabri. After another 2.5km, turn left on to Kaputar Road Narrabri. After another 47.2km, (at the end of Kaputar Road) turn left on to Kaputar Summit Road. After another 950m, come to the trackhead on Kaputar Summit Road.

  Other planned events: Notice of 1080 aerial and ground baiting program
  **UPDATE: This baiting program has been extended until Friday 31 October 2025 in the Beresford/Carinya precinct of Mount Kaputar National Park**
  NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting an ongoing aerial and ground baiting program in Mount Kaputar National Park from Tuesday 4 March to Tuesday 5 August 2025. The operation will use 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes.
  The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock. Signs will be placed at the entry to the baiting location.
  Domestic pets are not permitted on NPWS estate. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

  Safety alerts: Washouts on Kaputar Road
  There are significant washouts on the gravel section of Kaputar Rd in Mount Kaputar National Park.
  Washouts can be harmful to vehicles and passengers. Please travel this section of road with caution and drive through washouts at very low speed.
  This section of road is not managed by NPWS. Please direct any queries regarding the condition of the road to Narrabri Shire Council on 02 6799 6866 or council@narrabri.nsw.gov.au
