Berghofers Pass

Starting from the dirt car park on Berghofer Drive, Mount Victoria, this journey takes you to Great Western Highway and back via the Berghofers Pass track. Berghofer's Pass was built in the early 1900s as an alternative route to Victoria Pass, which was too steep for the motor vehicles of the time. Although the pass was closed (for vehicles) in 1934, the path remains a popular destination for hikers and history buffs alike. Walk along the said historical path to Great Western Highway and back, making your way around the mountain's edge. This track offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and is dog-friendly. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the dirt car park on Berghofer Drive (30 metres northwest of the intersection with Mount York Road), head towards the metal gate (with a little signpost next to it) on the other side of Mount York Road. Cross the road carefully and head around the said gate. Head along the singular wide dirt track to continue along Berghofers Pass Track.....

	Start. After another 10 m (from the Berghofer Drive) turn right, to head along Berghofer Drive (a vehicle track).
	After another 35 m (at the intersection of Berghofers Pass & Mount York Road) continue straight, to head along Berghofers Pass (a vehicle track). After another 45 m head through/around the gate.
	After another 670 m (at the intersection of Berghofers Pass & Butler's Creek) continue straight, to head along Berghofers Pass. After another 1.5 km head through/around the gate.
	(at the intersection of Berghofers Pass & Berghofers extension unmaintained) Continue another 50 m to find the end. Then turn around here and retrace the main route for 2.3 km to get back to the start.
