	At the intersection of Middle Head Road & Cobblers Beach Road Start heading along Middle Head Road (a service road). Find the car park at the start.
	After another 75 m (at the intersection of Old Fort Road & Middle Head Road) continue straight, to head along Old Fort Road. After another 30 m pass the toilet (8 m on your right). After another 205 m come to "Outer Middle Head Battery". Outer Middle Head Battery The Outer Middle Head Battery is the main complex in the Middle Head Fortifications. Work for building the fortifications started in 1801 and the last batteries were constructed in 1942, with the majority of the work being done 1870 and 1911 . There is a network of tunnels and rooms underground that was build to support the gunning placements to protect Sydney Harbour from enemy invasion. There are formal tours available or you can take care and explore the area yourself.
	Turn around here and retrace the main route for 310 m to get back to the start.
