TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Which gets the most use....most suitable for Qld.....is one roomier than the other...does the cuben tarp warm up excessively through the day......?

Cuben tarp. Never touched the superfly since owning the cuben tarp.

Superfly is slightly larger, Length much the same. Width on the Cuben tarp is not so wide as the Superfly.

I love the fact with Cuben I don't have to keep fiddling with it once set. Rain, hail or shine, keeps the same tension, not like the Superfly with it's silnylon.

I tend to only have the tarps pitched just before dark. Unless it's raining or I'm feeling nacked from the days hiking. Often I set the hammock and put the tarp over when needed. I hardly do any overnight hikes during our hot summer months. Mostly the tarps are used in winter.

Great. Sounds like the value is there for the cuben, especially after weight consideration.
As to the width, if I end up getting a BMBH, ( sometime down the track, maybe) then raising the ridgeline a couple of inches would probably compensate the width difference at the spreader bar? Wouldnt it ?

BMBH, is that one of those flat warbonnet hammocks? If so, I think you need a larger tarp to fit over them, particularly if it's made of Cuben. You don't want anything rubbing up against that cuben.

Ok, I just done a search. It's similar to the Warbonnet Bridge Hammock in a lot of ways.

Not sure on the size comparison's between the two. But from what I read on the Warbonnet Bridge Hammock, you need a big big tarp to cover.

I can't see myself every purchasing the bridge hammock. To big and heavy for me. My Blackbird Hammock is so comfy. I can't imagine how anything could be more comfy than my Blackbird. But than I've never tried a bridge hammock.

Too many choices, huh ! Blasted hammocks ! At least with a tent you know they all feel the same on the rocks and twigs and slopes.
The spreader bars are about 32 inches wide, I think.

Yeah - I guess I am with you on this. I am kind of intrigued with the bridge hammock idea.

But there is no lack of comfort issue with my current hammock and i like the simplicity.

The idea that it takes a large NeoAir for a completely flat lay appeals.
But then I already have one heavy hammock. The other option I'm looking at is HG cuben tarp + 11ft. Darien UL = 600gm.
