I used to be incapacitated after a days heavy walking (or a nights heavy raving) because of my cotton undies chafing right in my groin. Massive welts and horrible pain. Never happens with my IBs. And I'm fatter now than I was back then!
The only complaint I have is that if you're not careful in pulling them up, you can make a big hole in them with very little effort. It's all in the technique.

Next I tried some lightweight Macpac merino boxer briefs, but they tended to ride up a bit, but I kept using them until they quickly wore out. Otherwise they were okay.
Now days these are good: http://www.exofficio.com/products/details/mens-give-n-go-boxer-brief.
