If you have walked past it a few times, that would have to imply you have done the Port Davey track more than once, which means you MUST be a mud rat (doing it MORE than once) and as such do not deserve views from summits as beautiful!
OK, sorry, never been there but have seen photos from the top, a mate of mine who has a yacht.
Assuming one does not have a boat, do you have a helicopter? (Well, you did ask for the best way of accessing it......)

In all honesty, I dunno. I would have thought flying into Melaleuca and walking up would be the best way, followed by walking down by Scotts Peak.
Biggest problem about any further info on that is that if it isn't in a guide book somewhere, it's likely off-track so specific answers (containing precise detail) would need to come via PM.
And as I preview I see someone mentions Chapmans book. So public answers might be okay.
Am envious of anyone going there on a fine day tho.
